Newsom’s hidden tax is hitting YOUR wallet

Post Tile 11

The other day, I sat down with Fox News to expose something Gavin Newsom doesn’t want you to know about.

It’s called the Vessel at Berth rule. Buried in California’s environmental bureaucracy, it forces cargo ships docked at our ports to either plug into state-approved power or pay tens of thousands of dollars a day in fines.

Shipping companies aren’t eating that cost, you are.

California’s ports move over 40% of all U.S. container traffic. Every fine gets baked into the price of what’s on the truck: your Amazon packages, your groceries, the gas in your tank, the goods on the shelf at your local store.

That’s not an environmental policy. That’s a hidden tax,ย one Newsom imposed without a single vote in Congress, and one that could spread to ports in every state if we let it stand.

I’m not letting it stand.

I introduced H.J.Res. 210 to roll back this rule.ย I am using the Congressional Review Act to force a vote and strike this hidden tax down before it costs families more.

As I told Fox News: “It’s a massive hidden climate tax that’s being imposed on every single ship that’s coming into California.”

Sacramento has an army of bureaucrats and unlimited taxpayer money to defend rules like this one. I have you.
