Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association Endorses Vince Fong for Assembly

Bakersfield, CA – Today, community leader and conservative Republican Vince Fong announced that the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association (HJTA) has endorsed him in his bid for the State Assembly.

Founded in 1978, HJTA came to prominence after it worked to pass Proposition 13 — a law that has stabilized California property taxes and placed limitations on politicians’ ability to raise taxes. It is estimated that Prop 13 has saved California’s taxpayers $528 billion. Today, HJTA is regarded as one of the state’s leading voices when it comes to protecting taxpayers.

“Vince Fong is a longtime taxpayer advocate who understands the importance of protecting families from burdensome taxes,” stated Jon Coupal, President of the HJTA. “We need more leaders like Vince in Sacramento who will stand up and fight California’s reckless tax-and-spend policies.”

A Kern County native, Vince Fong has served as the District Director to House Majority Leader and Congressman Kevin McCarthy for almost a decade, managing public policy issues and advocating for common sense policies that protect taxpayers and encourage economic growth.

“I am honored to receive the endorsement from the Howard Jarvis Taxpayer Association,” replied Fong. “Hardworking families should keep the money they earn, rather than being forced to subsidize wasteful programs imposed by the Legislature. We need to hold Sacramento accountable and stop wasteful projects like the high speed boondoggle. We must stand up against tax increases and as an Assemblyman, I will always prioritize California’s hardworking taxpayers in every decision I make.”

In addition to serving as McCarthy’s District Director, Fong has dedicated much of his time to volunteering for a number of local organizations. He is a former board member for Goodwill Industries of South Central California, a former elected member of the Kern County Republican Central Committee, and a lifetime member of the NRA. He currently serves on the board of the Jim Burke Education Foundation and Honor Flight Kern County where he works to send WWII, Korean War and Vietnam Veterans to Washington DC to see their memorials.
